Overview

At only 7 days, this is one of the best short Everest treks. The Everest View trek is optimal for travelers who have a tight schedule but want to see the majestic Everest view.

Everest View Trek is one of the shortest Himalayan adventures. This short journey to the Everest region is designed for travellers who love mountain views without the long haul of a full-base camp expedition.

In the Everest View Trek 7 Days, you’ll fly to Lukla and walk through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, pass traditional Sherpa villages, and beautiful high alpine forests.

The main highlight of the Everest View trek is the 360-degree panoramic Mount Everest view (8,848 m) and other peaks like Ama Dablam (6,812m), Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861 m), and Cho Oyu (8,201m). The highest point of this trek is the Everest View Hotel, located at an altitude of 3,880m. Though with giant heights and peaks, it is a moderate-level trek.

The short Everest View trek is suitable for all physically fit people. It doesn’t require any training or technical skills. It has manageable walking days with an acclimatization day included at Namche Bazaar to avoid altitude sickness. The Everest View Trek itinerary is made to give you the best and memorable Himalayan adventure in minimal time.

The Everest View Trek package includes all accommodation. In Kathmandu, you stay in the Apsara Boutique Hotel in a standard room. Rooms are comfortable twin-sharing and come with attached toilet bathrooms.

During the trek, accommodation is in local tea-houses. You will stay in Phakding, Namche Bazaar, and Lukla. The local teahouses are comfortable, clean, with twin beds per room. Toilets/baths are attached only at the lower regions, otherwise, they are on a shared basis.

Note: You have upgrade option to private rooms and for eaxtra services with additional cost if desired.

Everest View Trek Food

Throughout the Everest View Trek, full board meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included. To keep you energized, we provided both Nepali and international dishes that are organic and nutritious.

The staple dish for the Everest View Trek is dal bhat tarkari (rice, lentils, and vegetable curry). Other food options include Steamed dumplings (momo), noodle soup (thukpa), fried rice, chow mein, pasta, and porridge.

For breakfast, you can have eggs or oats. Similarly, for dinner you will have dhal (lentils), curry, and veggies. After dinner, you will receive seasonal fruit, and hot tea/coffee is also provided 3 times a day during the trek.

Note: If you have any dieteary peferences or allegries, you can notify us in advance.

Best Time to Visit Everest View Trek

The best time for the Everest View Trek is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The spring offers the best view as the valleys glow in full bloom with colourful rhododendrons and wildflowers. Similarly, the mountain views are great, along with mild temperatures.

Autumn is the peak trekking season in Nepal. It comes right after the monsoon, bringing clear skies, stable weather, and great mountain views. Both Autumn and Spring seasons have dry trails and comfortable days.

It’s best to avoid doing an Everest View Trek in the Monsoon season (June to August) because it brings heavy rain, muddy trails, and gloomy skies. The Winter season (December to February) is very cold, especially at high altitude (though some adventurers still go). Therefore, spring and autumn are the best times to do the Everest View Trek.

Everest View Trek Preparation Guide

For the best experience, we suggest you start training at least 1 or 2 months in advance. Do more cardiovascular exercises (hiking, jogging, cycling) and leg strength (stair-climbing, lunges).

Go for a hike carrying a weighted backpack to get used to the load while walking. Most importantly, bring quality gear like a waterproof jacket, trekking pants, a warm fleece, a down jacket (available free if needed), thermal layers, sturdy hiking pants, and fully broken-in boots.

Furthermore, pack winter gloves, a warm hat, and good UV-protective sunglasses. Lastly, rest properly to acclimatize to altitude. To prevent altitude sickness, drink 3 to 4 liters of water per day, eat well, and avoid alcohol or smoking.

Note: If you have any other medical concerns, consult with your doctor before going on a trek.

Everest View Trek Difficulty

The Everest View Trek is an easy-to-moderate level trek. It is one of the shortest treks in the Everest region, which provides great mountain views. On average, you will hike for 4 to 6 hours per day. The route includes lots of uphill and downhill sections.

Unlike, Everest Base Camp Trek, the Everest View Trek is much easier. Therefore, it is manageable for beginners (with fitness training).

The highest point of this Everest View Trek is 3,880m (at Khumjung/Everest View Hotel). The altitude is the primary challenge of this trek. With acclimatization and proper planning, the trekkers complete the trek successfully.

Altitude Sickness During Everest View Trek

The major concern for the Everest View Trek is altitude sickness. Trekking above 3000m altitude increases the risk of getting altitude sickness. The common symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, and weakness. If you feel any of these symptoms, report them immediately to the guide and don’t ignore them. To prevent AMS, climb slowly, walk gradually, rest properly, and drink plenty of water (3 to 4 L/day).

Access Nepal Tours and Trekking follows the “climb high, sleep low” rule. It means you hike to a higher viewpoint during the day (Everest View Hotel at 3880m) but sleep at a lower altitude (Namche Bazaar at 3440m) to acclimatize.

Another major part to stay safe is eating nutritious food and resting properly. Eat lots of nutritious and healthy food throughout the Everest View Trek. If symptoms worsen, descending to a lower elevation is the safest remedy.

Packing Lists and Equipment for Everest View Trek

For safety reasons, pack warm clothes suitable for mountain weather. You can also read a comprehensive guide for the Everest Base Camp Trek packing list. The things to pack for the Everest View Trek are listed below:

  • Duffel bag (provided for free in the package)
  • Waterproof Jacket and trekking pants that protect against rain/snow.
  • Warm Fleece jacket, wool hat, gloves.
  •  Down jacket and sleeping bag (available for rent free of cost)
  • Thermal underwear
  • High-quality base layers for nights
  • Durable, breathable trekking pants and good-quality trekking boots (with good ankle support).
  • Wool socks (with thin liners)
  • Sunglasses with UV protection, high SPF sunscreen, and lip balm.
  • Headlamp with spare batteries, water bottle (we provide water purifiers), small medical kit, and toiletries (toilet paper, hand sanitizer)
  • Power bank

Down jacket and sleeping bag are avilable to rent free of cost to use. Duffel bags and water purification tablets are complimentry and included in the Everest View Trek package.

Lukla Flight Information During the Trek

The flight to Lukla was thrilling but safe. However, the unstable weather increases the flight delays and cancellations. During peak season (Mar to May, Oct to Nov), Lukla flights are operated from Ramechhap (Manthali) airport to avoid air traffic. To reach Ramechhap, you have to wake up very early as the drive takes 5 to 6 hours from Kathmandu and catch an early-morning flight (you may depart Kathmandu around 1 or 2 am). In the off-season, flights usually operate directly from Kathmandu.

Therefore, if you have extra time, we suggest you to add at least one or two buffer days to your itinerary. These extra days can cover any Lukla flight cancellation (so you don’t miss your international flight later).

In the case of flight cancellations, we will manage to rebook. You also have other options, helicopter flight to Lukla at an additional cost.

Note: Everest region flights have strict weight limit: 15kg luggage (including hand luggage), so pack accordingly.

Everest View Trek Route Overview

The Everest View Trek itinerary consists of a 7-day trek. It follows a classic Khumbu loop. Day 1: Early flight to Lukla (2,800m), then trek to Phakding (2,650m) walking through pine and rhododendron forest. Day 2: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the popular Sherpa town. Day 3: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar and short hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880m) and Khumjung village.

Continuously, day 4: Namche Bazaar (3,440m) to Phakding (2,650m). You will walk along the amazing mountain panoramas (Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam). Day 5: Trek to Lukla (2,850m) retracing the same route as we first came. Day 7: Flight to Kathmandu, ending the Everest View Trek.

In this trek, you cover beautiful Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges, and dense forest. The Everest View Trek route offers a breathtaking Mount Everest view trek. It passes around prime viewpoints of Everest and neighboring peaks.

Everest View Trek Safety Guidelines

Your safety is our top priority. For your Everest View Trek, we provide highly experienced licensed, English-speaking, first-aid trained, and local guides. Throughout the trek, always follow your guide’s instructions: maintain the group pace and immediately inform if you feel any kind of discomfort. Bring any personal medications you need.

During the trek, stay well-hydrated and be mindful of steep or slippery sections. We also require travel insurance covering high-altitude helicopter evacuation. In a medical emergency, Access Nepal can organize a helicopter rescue. Keep copies of your insurance and important documents with you. In short, be careful, listen to your guide, and always be prepared.

Travel Insurance for Everest View Trek

Travel insurance is Mandatory. Due to the high elevations and remote terrain, travel insurance is necessary. Make sure the travel insurance covers medical care and heli-evacuation above 6,000m.

We recommend a coverage of at least USD 100,000. Buy the insurance that covers altitude sickness, medical issues, accidents, and helicopter rescue. Your policy should also cover trip cancellation, lost luggage, etc. Carry a copy (or digital copy) of your policy and bring any necessary prescription medicines.

Internet, Charging, and SIM Card Use

You can stay connected at lower elevations. Kathmandu, Lukla, and Namche Bazaar have reliable 3G/4G service via Ncell or NTC networks. SIM cards (NTC or Ncell) are easily purchased at the Kathmandu airport or in Thamel; credit can be added with local recharge cards (50 to 100 NPR).

Some lodges offer Wi-Fi, usually free in Kathmandu and Lukla, but higher up (Namche and above) it may cost extra or be unavailable. Because power is limited on trek, bring a power bank to recharge devices. Charging electronics in mountain lodges often incurs a small fee (to pay for their generator or solar).

Tourist Visa for Nepal

To visit Nepal, all travelers require a tourist visa to enter Nepal. You can easily get it on arrival at Kathmandu airport or apply online beforehand. (Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.) Typical visa fees are: $30 for 15 days, $50 for 30 days, or $125 for 90 days. Have passport photos ready and bring the receipt if you applied online. On arrival, pay in cash (USD, Euro, or NPR) and get your visa stamped at immigration.

Everest View Trek Permits

The Everest View Trek requires two permits:

  • Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit
  • Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit

Access Nepal Tours and Trekking covers the permit fees and will obatin it. You do not need a separate TIMS card, as the Khumbu permit covers the Trekkers’ Information Management System requirement. All the process at checkpint will be handled by your guide.
