Money Exchange Rate in Nepal
To travel and buy things, you will need Nepali Rupee (NPR/Rs). You can easily exchange the money at banks and authorized money exchange centers. They are easily spotted in Thamel, Kathmandu. The exchange rate of 1 USD is 100 NPR.
If needed immediately, you can also exchange a small amount of money at some hotels. It’s suggested to look at the exchange rate displayed for no confusion. If you are looking to exchange the money for security, you can also exchange it with a traveler’s cheque. However, it could be quite inconvenient and takes time.
You can also exchange the money at banks or financial institutions but they will charge you a service fee of four percent or more.
Another option is withdrawing money with a foreign card from ATMs. They operate 24/7 and you can withdraw the money from there. The maximum withdrawal limit is 35,000 NPR per transaction, with a processing fee of 500 NPR.
Note: The government of Nepal has banned the import, export, and use of 500 and 1000 Indian Rupee notes. Remember not to carry. Otherwise, it may result in confiscation and a fine.

Mera Peak, Everest Base Camp & Kala Patthar May 2016 • Friends The entire planning went smoothly and our trip went very smoothly. From the moment we landed in the airport, the guide engaged by the agency was able to link up with us and from there on made sure our trip was as comfortable as possible, providing excellent advice. My friend and I booked a 25 day package with the agency and they were able to customize the trip to our requirements and also providing extremely good pricing! Had 2 guides and both were extremely experienced and dedicated. Guide 1 - Pemba Sherpa (For mera peak) Guide 2 - Giri (for Everest base camp & kala patthar) On our rest day in Kathmandu, the agency was able to engage one of their city tour guides immediately when we decided to do an impromtu sight seeing. Will definitely reccomend this agency for anyone travelling to nepal
