Welcome and Arrival
You will be greeted with warm hospitality at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. The representative from Access Nepal Tours and Trekking will waiting there with the company sigh boards.
After that, we will welcome you in traditional Nepali style with a Khada (traditional ceremonial sacrf), Tika, and flower garland. Once the welcome session is done, you will be taken to your hotel via private tourist vehicle.
In the evening, Access Nepal will host a welcome dinner in a traditional Neplai style along with cultural performances. We wish you a best and smooth trek.

Best Season for Everest Base Camp Horse Riding Trek
The best time for the Everest Horse Riding trek is in Summer (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather gets stable and pleasant. It also offers a clear view of the mountains and sky. With dry and nature in full bloom, it is the peak time for trekking in Nepal.
- Spring (March to May): This time of the year is the best time to visit the Everest Base Camp. The weather gets warm and perfect for trekking. The temperature during the day goes up from 10°C to 20°C. The trails are in full bloom with colourful rhododendrons.
- Autumn (September to November): This season is the peak season for trekking due to favorable weather, temperature, and surroundings. It starts just after post-monsoon, giving the fresh and crisp air of the Himalayas. The dry trails and clear visibility of mountains and skies are another good part. The trail will also be more lively. Since it is also the time for major Nepali festivals, Dashain and Tihar, you can add extra days to learn more about the culture and festivals.
Besides, spring and Autumn, other seasons; Winter and Monsoon are not great times for trekking. The snowfall and rainfall make the trek difficult and challenging. How to Prepare for the Everest Base Camp Horse Riding Trek?
The Everest Base Camp is an easy to moderate level trek. Though you will be traveling via horse for most of the trek, it still involves some challenges. The major obstacle of trekking to Everest Base Camp is the altitude and diverse terrain.
We suggest you do some light exercise 1 or 2 months ahead of the trek. You can do simple activities like walking, cycling, or hiking. Most importantly, it will be best if you have basic horse riding skills. However, you don’t have to be an expert.
Make sure to give your body some rest during the acclimatization. It is very important to acclimatize to high elevation places and to prevent altitude sickness.
How is the Everest Base Camp Horse Riding Trek Itinerary Made?
Keeping your safety as a top priority, the itinerary of the Everest Base Camp Horse Riding Trek is designed with lots of care and expertise. This trek takes you to high-altitude places and difficult terrains. Therefore, the route of this trek is made by balancing the riding and acclimatization. Rest stops are key to prevent altitude sickness. In our itinerary, we have two acclimatization days at:
- Namche Bazaar (Day 4)
- Dingboche (Day 7)
The rest stops help your body get familiar with the altitude. The higher you go, the lower the oxygen level. Through the horse riding, you will be assisted by expert horse rider for the sfatey. The itinerary is made to give you a great experience along with safety without having to compromise the fun of the trip.
How Difficult is the Everest Base Camp Horse Riding Trek?
This trek is an easy and moderate level trek. This trek involves riding the horses most of the time, but altitude sickness makes the traveling difficult.
The higher you go, the thinner the air gets, resulting in difficulty in breathing. Your body will need some rest days to adjust to high elevation. On average, the ride will last for 5 to 7 hours daily. Horse riding for long hours will be quite tiring. However, you don’t have to worry because the itinerary pace is as slow and steady as a rest day.
Otherwise, the horse-riding trek to Everest Base Camp is moderate, and anybody can accomplish it with good training.
How to Prevent Altitude Sickness?
The major challenge of trekking to Everest Base Camp is altitude sickness. Unlike the trek to Annapurna Base Camp, this trek doesn’t involve gradual altitude gain. Therefore, you have to be very careful to avoid getting altitude sickness. For a successful summit, you have to be fit and healthy.
The highest point this trek takes you to is 5,644m at Kalapathhar. Therefore, Access Nepal follows the “Climb High and Sleep Low” rule. We have two acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,340m).
To prevent altitude sickness, drink plenty of water, walk slowly, sleep properly, avoid alcohol and cigarette consumption, and eat healthy and nutritious meals.
The common symptoms of altitude sickness are nausea, headache, weakness, chilness, and dizziness. If you feel any of the symptoms, immediately talk with your guide. In severe cases, you should come down straight away and get medical help. Throughout the trek, your guide will always look after you closely so that you can have fun safely.

Lukla Flight Schedule
Due to unstable weather conditions and seasons, the flight schedule of Lukla is not guaranteed. There is a high chance of experiencing flight delays and cancellations. You don’t have to worry, Access Nepal will help arrange everything in the rescheduling and booking process.
To avoid the delay and cancellation, in peak seasons like Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November), the Lukla flight will operate from Ramechhap. To reach Ramechhap airport, you have to leave early from Kathmandu as it takes a 5 to 6-hour drive via private tourist bus. Once you reach Ramechhap, you will take 20 20-minute flights to Lukla.
Besides peak season (December to January and June to July), flights will take off normally from Kathmandu to Lukla, which takes about 30 minutes. The flight tickets and airport transfer will be all covered in the package.
