If you’ve done some walking, hiking, or horseback riding before, you’re already ahead. You don’t have to worry even if you don’t have prior riding experience. Our well-trained horses and our experienced team are here to support you through every step of the way. You, with moderate fitness, proper preparation, and experienced support, can ace this trek even without mountaineering or horse riding skills.

Altitude and Acclimatization

You should not take altitude lightly while trekking. Our experienced team has planned this journey with your safety in mind. There will be some stops for acclimatization. Namche and Dingboche are the two points for the stop which allows your body to adjust to higher altitudes. Do listen to your body. Your mental strength also takes a huge role when trekking to Everest Base Camp because the more you fear, the sooner you get Acute Mountain Sickness. Our guides are trained to spot early signs of altitude sickness and will ensure you’re well looked after. When you are in the Himalayas always remember, slow and steady wins the trek!

Packing Essentials

Packing light and smart is key while traveling. Here’s what you should consider while packing for Everest Horse Riding Trek:

  • The weather in the Himalayas changes faster than your playlist, so carry breathable layers, a warm down jacket, and waterproof gear.
  • You should carry light and comfortable trousers for the hike but don’t forget to add some thermal wear for the night.
  • Wear layers to stay cozy but be ready to peel them off as the sun warms up the trails.
  • Comfortable, sturdy trekking boots are ideal for walking alongside your horse.
  • You should also bring a warm pair of gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle or thermos.

Your stay throughout your Everest Base Camp Horseback Trek will be in cozy tea houses that offer a simple yet welcoming experience. Your rooms are typically twin-shared with comfortable beds, warm blankets, and electric heating options at some parts. You will be given some basic amenities but the charm lies in the hospitality of the local Sherpa community.
For food, you’ll enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals keeping you energized on the journey. You can choose from the menu, which includes everything from traditional Nepali dal bhat (lentil soup with rice) to international favorites like pasta, pancakes, and soups. Your flight to Lukla will be an adventure in itself, offering stunning views of the Himalayas. However, it’s essential to note that Lukla is one of the most weather-dependent airports in the world. Delays or cancellations due to poor visibility are common, especially during the monsoon or winter seasons.
To minimize the disruptions add a day or two on your trip in case of delays. Be prepared to adjust your schedule if needed. You can also consider helicopter options. When flights are canceled, helicopters are sometimes available for an additional cost. Our team will keep you informed and assist in every step in managing any changes to your itinerary.
