Best time to Visit the Langtang Valley
The best time to visit the Langtang Valley Trek is during the Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) seasons. The trails of the Langtang Valley trek are always beautiful, but they differ for an individual if you want to experience lush greenery or snowy mountains. The chances of altitude sickness are also less during the trek because of the greenery surrounded by the rhododendron and other flowers all over the trail.
During March to May, the trails will be covered with the greenery of the rhododendron forests and colorful wildflowers. The weather will be mild during this time, making the mountains and the alpine meadows look even better.
During the time from September to November, the trek will be beneficial for the photography enthusiast as it is the perfect time for post-monsoon green vegetation, and with a clear sky. The country’s main traditional event, Dashain and Tihar, also falls under the monsoon period, so the regional crowds will be less in this trail. You can easily get access to the natural beauty of the Langtang Valley all to yourself.

The skies will be clear, making it a wonderful time for sightseeing different vibrant surroundings, rhododendron, wildflowers, animals, and birds.
During the Autumn season, the Langtang Valley temperature can be expected at 10°C to 15°C, where the nights get colder, and the temperature drops to 0°C to 5°C. The weather at this time gets mild, with minimum rainfall, good visibility, making the trek wonderful to execute.

Langtang Valley Trek is considered an easy-to-moderate type of trek. As mentioned earlier, the highest point of the Langtang Trek is 5,033m. You will not have any problem acclimatizing during the treks if you follow the instructions of the trekking crew properly. The Trek is very accessible, and everyone having a normal fitness level can participate in this trek. On our trip from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, we will be travelling in a private vehicle and spending the night there. a. From the next day, we will be waking up a minimum of 4 hours to a maximum of 7 hours a day, covering 10-15 km on an average day. You can expect some steep trails or ups and downs on the trail. They are not difficult to walk, but being fit and getting some exercise 2-3 months before the trek will help you a lot.
The trek to the Langtang Valley will be more exciting and less difficult. There are, however few points that can make this trek difficult. The difficult part of the trek is reaching the highest point of the trek, i.e, Tsergo Ri at 5,033m/ 16,512ft. As the weather is mild, and we hike to higher altitudes each day, we will be staying at good hotels and lodges, which in some way will ease the difficulties. And, of course, our trained local trekking crew will be there to help you throughout the trip.
How to Prepare for the Langtang Valley Trek?
The Langtang Valley trek is a moderate trek that does not require any extra climbing skills, but stamina and endurance level have to be maintained.
- Exercise: Stamina and endurance are necessary for this trek. You can try increasing your stamina by doing some easy workouts 2-3 months before initiating the trek. Doing some cardio, swimming, and cycling might help with the workouts.
- Acclimatize: As the trek to the higher altitudes, eventually, the weather will also be changing. We do not have extra acclimatization days on the itinerary. However, there should not be any acclimatisation issues if you go slow and steady and follow the guide’s instructions. Also, we recommend you drink a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated, and with the help of good food and warm accommodation provided by the hotels, we can easily overcome minor acclimatization difficulties, if any.
- Light backpack: As you will be going through some cold and chilly areas and have to walk for hours, try to pack only the necessary and lightweight things in your backpack. Good quality trekking gear, warm clothes, proper shoes, UV protective sunglasses, and a first aid kit are some examples of the necessary items that need to be packed for the journey.
- Food and water: For a smooth trek, water and nutritious fruits are very essential. Carrying a water bottle and energy bars, and dried fruits will provide you with nutritious energy that you might need throughout the trek.
- Trek during the best time: Another way to prepare for a good trek is to plan for the correct season. We can go for the Langtang Valley trek throughout the year, but choosing the best time to visit during the Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) seasons can be very helpful. It will be safe for you, as the weather, the mountains, and other natural beauty that complement the trek can be seen clearly.

How to Trek Safely to Langtang Valley Trek?
It is always a fun trip if everyone travels and explores places in their way. Keeping that in mind, trekking safely will make your journey even better.. There are a few things to consider if you want to trek safely to the Langtang Valley trek.
- Walking with the same pace: The easiest way to safely travel is by walking correctly, finding a pace that suits your breathing, and being consistent with it throughout the day. This will help you to breathe easier anmore easilyel most conveniently. Keeping a foot outside the Langtang Valley while trekking is not recommended.
- Walk in groups: The next thing to do is find a group that has the same pace as yours. This is because you need to have a group while going through the terrains having different routes. If one travels alone, there is a high chance of getting lost or being spotted by wild animals along the trails. To reduce the danger, we highly advise you to be safe and travel in groups.
- Have a guide and porter: Having a guide by your side will help you to know more about the environment, the hidden details of the place, its history, and most importantly, communicate and translate the help that you need to the local people, which will only make your stay easier. Access Nepal provides 1 guide for 6 trekkers and 1 porter for 2 trekkers (all expenses covered). In case one needs to hire more porters, then a small amount of money has to be paid, which will not be included in the package.
- Easy Packing: The trek can be easy if only the lightest necessary things are packed. The trails are also moderate, and the routes are also not that difficult, so easy packing can help us to hike more easily and travel faster.
- Climb high, sleep low: The easiest way to safely travel is by simply following the “Climb high, sleep low” rule. This is a strategic move where you hike uphill to a higher altitude during the daytime and descend to sleep at a lower altitude. The trick is that this rule allows your body to adjust to the lower altitude, which improves acclimatization, reduces the risk of altitude sickness, and gives you more pleasant sleep.
- Drink water and dry fruits: The simplest thing to do to be safe on a trek is to carry a water bottle and drink a lot of water, and a nutritious chocolate bar that contains dry fruits and nuts. It helps in preventing tiredness and headaches during the trek but reme, mber to not drink extreme cold water as it might cause problems later on. You can, however, ask for a water purifying tablet when drinking water from local resources.
Maximum and Minimum walk per day
In the Langtang Valley itinerary it is a little over a week’s journey stretching over a total distance of 140 km from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. We will cover this distance in a private vehicle, and moving forward, the total distance for the trek is 65km. The trek is a very achievable journey, since it is a moderate one.
We will have to trek a distance of almost 1000m above sea level every day. The time duration can be decreased each day due to the altitude and weather conditions. The higher altitude we go, the shorter the distance we will cover. However, while returning from the highest point, each day the duration will be longer as it will be a descending journey covering more distance.
From Kathmandu, we will have a drive for almost 7-8 hours, as mentioned earlier, and reach Syabrubesi. From here, on the next day, we will be trekking for 5-6 hours and reach the Lama Hotel. We will be resting at the Hotel and end our day.
The next day on our Langtang Valley trek itinerary, we will be travelling for 6-7 hours to reach Langtang Valley from the hotel and stay overnight here. You can always explore the Langtang Valley and visit the vendors and the shops nearby, and get some souvenirs for yourself, your friends, and your family. From here, next we will walk for 3-4 hours uphill to reach Kyajin Gompa. After reaching the Gompa, we can rest here or we can go to the highest point of the trek, i.e, Tsergo Ri, after another 4 hours of hiking.
From the next day, the elevation and the altitude are only decreasing, it will be better to travel and cover more distance in a few hours. We will be travelling to Lama Hotethe l which will take us 6-7 hours. On the next day, from here we will reach Syabrubesi in about 4-5 hours, and the following day we will reach Kathmandu in 6-7 hours of hour.

Wonderful hosts Sep 2017 • Couples We were recently in Nepal for our second trek with Access Nepal. The service was just as great the second time around, especially as a health issue forced us to change plans, which the company accommodated with aplomb. Our guide and porter, Omprakash Lamichhane and Deepak Magar, were excellent, as was Sadhana Adhikari, who coordinated everything, and helped guide us through the red tape. She even arranged for a birthday dinner and cake! We trekked in the Langtang district, which is still recovering from the earthquake, and is well worth seeing. We will certainly use this company again, and highly recommend them.
