There are innumerable hidden gems to explore and you may not find those destinations in tourist’s map. Even people who live in Nepal may not know about these places. These rarely trodden trails and destinations offer authentic and undisturbed travel experience. If you want to be a part of such experience, here are some suggestions for you.
Kori Valley, Annapurna Region
Annapurna region is obviously a popular destination but many of its part are still unexplored. Kori Valley is one of them. Kori Valley is an awesome valley lying on the lap of Annapurna II, Machhapuchhre Himal and Lamjung Himal. The Valley is a paradise of Annapurna region. It is filled with mesmerizing beauty of unique landscapes, rich biodiversity and rich culture and tradition of local people. The main attraction of this Valley is Kori Danda. Kori Danda is located at the altitude of 3800 m. It is a perfect place to observe the finest scenery of the nature. Sunrise and Sunset views from Kori Danda is delightful – the views of snow-capped mountains and the beautiful Valley will just take your breath away.
Barun Valley, Makalu Region
Barun Valley is one of the biggest and least-visited Himalaya Valleys located at the base of Mt. Makalu (8485m), the fifth highest mountain in the world. Barun Valley is filled with pristine landscapes, lush green forest, silver-shining mountains, beautiful waterfalls and enchanting caves. The place is rich in biodiversity and it is a part of Makalu Barun National Park. The beautiful landscapes and diverse biodiversity of Makalu Barun National Park is the best thing in Barun Valley. The Natural Park is known as the home of about 3000 species of plants, 75 species of mammals and 400 species of birds. Some of the rare flora and fauna found are potentilla makaluensis, swertia barunesis, snow leopards, red panda, clouded leopards, musk deer, and wild boars. Manalu Base camp is another popular touristic destination of Makalu Region.
Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, Dhaulagiri Region
Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is the only hunting reserve in Nepal. The Reserve is in high hills and terraced fields of western Nepal. It is a home to some of the rarest and most endangered flora and fauna. Some of the species like blue sheep, leopard, ghoral, serow, Himalayan tahr, Himalayan black bear, barking deer, etc. and the endangered species like musk deer, wolf and red panda are found in the Reserve. The place is also known for various bird species like pheasants, partridges, cheer pheasant and danphe. Dhorpatan is also a beautiful place with unique landscapes, flourishing forest and endless meadows & majestic views of Dhaulagiri VI (7268m), Churen Himal (7243m), Guraj Himal (7193m) etc. It is a wonderful place to connect with nature in Nepal.
Lumba Sumba, Kanchenjunga Region
Lumba Sumba is a pass that connects two beautiful regions of eastern Nepal – Kanchenjunga region and Makalu region. As an off beaten track in Nepal, it gives a unique opportunity to witness the wilderness of Kanchenjunga Conservation Area and Makalu Barun National Park. The diverse landscape that you encounter during your trek is simply unbelievable. Starting from the sub tropical forests, you reach to some of the highest navigable points on earth. Tsho Rolpa Lake, Rolwaling Region

Tsho Rolpa is an amazing beauty surrounded by the snow-capped mountains and hills. Due to its remoteness, its tranquil beauty is undisturbed. Trek to Tsho Rolpa will give you an opportunity to savor the beauty of wonderful landscapes, rich biodiversity and views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Langtang, Mt. Gauri Shankar. You can also visit the highland villages inhabited by different ethnic groups and know about their lifestyle, culture and traditions.
