1. Siddha Gufa, Bandipur – Lesser Known Places in Nepal
Bandipur is a charming small town which offers rich Newari culture and majestic panoramic views of the Himalayas. It is a beautiful place to visit in Nepal. Siddha Gufa is one of the least explored places in Bandipur. Siddha Gufa is the largest cave in Nepal and the second largest in Asia. It is about 437 m long and 50 m high. It is a thrilling and adventurous streak to visitors due to its dark environment and numerous bats. The cave’s interior is full of stalagmites and stalactites. Siddha Cave is also known as the place where Siddha Baba got his enlightenment. It takes about one and half hour’s hike from Bandipur town to reach there. Or you can also hike uphill to the cave from Bimalnagar (which lies on Prithvi Highway), which will take 45 mins to reach the cave. As the path is slippery and stony, hiring a local guide will be helpful to explore around.
2. Gorakhnath Cave, Gorkha – Unexplored Places in Nepal
Gorakhnath Cave lies in Gorkha. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage site. Gorakhnath Cave is the home of Gorakhnath Baba, a sage who is said to have predicted King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s unification of Nepal. Gorakhnath cave is situated 10m below the southern side of the Royal Palace of Gorkha. The cave is cut out of solid rock. Many devotees come to worship there. The length of Gorakhnath cave is not certain, but it is believed that the cave has deep extent.
3. Rani Mahal, Palpa – Unexplored Places in Nepal
Palpa district is famous for its Dhaka, a local fabric and Rani Mahal. Rani Mahal is situated on the bank of the Kali Gandaki River. It was built by General Khadga Samsher Rana JBR in 1893. Rani Mahal is considered the symbol of love as it was constructed as the token of love for the General’s Late Queen Tej Kumari. It is located in the heart of Palpa district, at a distance of 13 km from Tansen. Rani Mahal is also known as Ranighat palace. The palace is an untouched beauty resting in the peace of neighboring forests, ponds and riverbanks symbolizing love and devotion.
3. Shree Antu, Ilam – Unexplored Places in Nepal
Ilam is a beautiful hilly district in Eastern Nepal, located 600 km east from Kathmandu. Ilam is the land of Tea, which is largely covered with tea bushes. The view of Ilam is breathtaking, the pristine landscapes consist of inclined Tea Gardens, dense natural forest, and mountain streams. Apart from the tea garden, there are many other attractions. Shree Antu is one of them. Shree Antu gives an opportunity to witness the majestic beauty of the Himalayas bordering Nepal and India. Mai Pokhari in Shree Antu is believed to be the sacred habitat of goddess Bhagawati and it is surrounded by dense forest of fir, juniper, birch & pine. Ilam is also home of the endangered red panda, musk deer and wild bird Danphe.
4. Rupa Lake, Pokhara – Lesser Known Places in Nepal
Pokhara is the called the city of Lakes, because of numerous beautiful lakes it has. Pokhara is famous for its tranquil and beautiful lakes and mountain views. Whenever people think of boating in Pokhara, they will think of Fewa and Begnas Lakes. However, there is another amazing lake in Pokhara Valley called Rupa Taal. Rupa Taal is about 20 kilometers away from the main city of Pokhara. This Lake gives a beautiful reflection of the Himalayas and it is surrounded by amazing green hills and forests. The Lake is a tranquil place to spend a good time. It also offers you the beautiful views of water birds like swans, cranes, and aquatic animals like tortoise & different types of fishes.
