Six trek routes to open up

Half-a-dozen new trekking routes are being constructed to promote tourism in Myagdi.

The routes were launched with a view to make accessible sites with historical and religious significance as well as ares with high tourism potential in the high altitudes of the district.

The routes were introduced after the tourism budget, which was blocked for the past three years, was released this fiscal, said Bishnu Prasad Sharma, local development officer. “A total of Rs 5.9 million was received after three years as royalty, and we are planning to build at least six trekking trails from the fund,” said Sharma.

A trail that extends to Duwadi, Patalbaas, Rikhar, Beni, Arthunge Cave, Paulatsya, Dholthan-Todke to Malikdhuri, Jyamrukkot-gaushwara, Dol, Jhankripani and Bim Marang, Khamla-Khiwang Naurabhir to the base-camp, has been opened, informed District Development Committee, Myagdi.

Likewise, ongoing construction of Galeshwor, Piple, Begkhola, Chimkhola, to Dhaulagiri Aaisafal trail and Bhu-tatopani, Narchyang, Khoprang, to Annapurna base camp will be completed this fiscal.

“Some of the trails will be completed within this fiscal, whereas others will be completed in the next two years,” said officer Sharma.

The trail that extends from Bhu-tatopani, Narchyang, Khopra to Annapurna Base camp and Galeshwor -Dhaulagiri Aaisafal trekking route will be completed this year, informed the DDC.

The consumers’ committee said construction of Galeshwor-Dhaulagiri Aaisafal trekking route had reached the final stage.
