Best partner for your next adventure
Oct 2024 • Friends
We hiked to the Everest Base camp with Access Nepal and had an experience of a lifetime. With extremely well informed and equipped guides like Bal Bahadur Tamang and caring set of porters like Kaila and Battish, they made our lives manageable beyond 5000 meters. Starting from guidance around how to do acclamation when to shower and when not to, as well as how to eat healthy, we felt we were in good hands. Honestly, we would not have summitted without Access Nepals expert guidance. I strongly recommended them as your partner in your next adventure.

Everest BaseCamp
Nov 2019
In November a group of 10 friends took a once in a life time trip to Everest BaseCamp,we decided to travel with Access Nepal who organised everything for us. They provided a detailed itenery from arrival to departure. Our guide Subodh met us at Kathmandu airport and presented us with beautiful marigold garlands and took us to our hotel. Sadhna the rep from Access Nepal went through the details of the trek and answered any questions we had and reassured us that she was at the end of the phone if we needed her. We met our assistant guide Yes and 5 porters in Lukla and off we trotted. We had a very pleasant trip up the mountain visiting the little villages and meeting the lovely locals not to mention the Yaks and donkeys in their droves carrying loads of supplies up the hillside. The tea houses were a welcome sight in the evenings where we enjoyed many games of cards and chatted to fellow travellers. We made it to BaseCamp November 13th, some of our group had medical issues subodh and Sadhna organised for them to go by helicopter to Kathmandu where they were looked after superbly. We enjoyed a tour of Kathmandu when we got back which was a brilliant. Overall , our visit Nepal was an unforgettable experience and we would love to return again and would highly recommend Access Nepal to anyone visiting this wonderful country.before we left we were presented with certificates and beautiful sashes to remember our trip.

Everest Base Camp with Kala Patthar Trek
Apr 2018 • Solo
I would like to thank very much the excellent trek I undertook with ACCESS NEPAL. I am 52, from UK and was undertaking this journey as a sole traveller, having not done this type of expedition for over 30 years. I did a lot of research of various trekking companies and decided to go with ACCESS NEPAL and undertake their 14 day trek to Everest Base Camp. From my first contact with Sadhana when making initial enquiries I found her to be very open and quick to respond on the numerous occasions I contacted her and no question was too unimportant.
The advice given by her and in their comprehensive itinerary briefing gave me confidence that I was going with a highly reputable company. Their briefing came with very good guidelines as to what to bring. Sadhana is one of the best organisers I have dealt with and she definitely puts her customers first. The arrival experience was good as their representative was waiting for me. All preparations were in hand and we departed on the appointed date. Our guide KUMAR was superb and he guided us extremely well, pacing the trip to our small group’s level of fitness. The outcome of that is we made it to both EBC and up Kala Patthar. We enjoyed superb weather and conditions on route and while busy a couple of nights in a couple of the teahouses it did feel not too crowded on the mountain. We were very fortunate not to have any disruption to our itinerary as we know others did experience and I put a lot of that down to the extensive and efficient organisation by ACCESS NEPAL. The scenery was mind blowing!
Prepare yourself that sleeping in Teahouses can be fairly basic accommodation but you get to meet lots of other like-minded travellers and you share experiences and tips. We were fed very well for all the exertions of walking at altitude and on some days especially on the downward leg, prepare yourself for walking quite long distances. Note if you fly into Lukla you are restricted to 10kgs for your main pack which your porter takes and up to 5kgs in your day pack so you do need to be quite ruthless with what you take on the trek. Leave other non-essential stuff behind at Kathmandu.
I did get a significant infection near the end of the trip and upon returning to Kathmandu our guide KUMAR took me to a local pharmacy and Doctor to get antibiotics. I did unfortunately end up in hospital for a couple of days while the they tackled the infection and Sadhana liaised with the hospital during admission, she spoke to me regularly as to how I was progressing and even came to visit me which I sincerely appreciated. Now that is customer service! I felt I was not left to be sick on my own in a foreign country! One thing I can say is my comprehensive medical insurance meant that there was no issues or hassle as to approving my urgent case for medical intervention and it highlighted to me the importance of having top notch medical insurance – DO NOT skimp in this area!
I recovered in time to return back to the UK on my original return date. I rate this trip as “EXCELLENT, with the help of Sadhana, the best guide in Nepal, KUMAR and the whole ACCESS NEPAL team. I did not see much of Kathmandu unfortunately so there is some unfinished business I still have with Nepal and I would consider looking at other trekking options in the future. One thing I would advise is to make sure you build in at least two extra days as a buffer in case mainly weather conditions or other disruptions strand you in either Kathmandu or Lukla! Best wishes to all the team at ACCESS NEPAL.

Amazing 11 day ABC trek
Dec 2018 • Friends
In December, me and a group of 4 friends did the ABC trek with Access Nepal, guided by Dev. Overall it was a difficult but extremely rewarding experience, definitely made better by Dev’s professionalism and years of trekking. I would definitely recommend going with this tour company, as the staff were all experienced, knowledgable and very likeable. There were several instances where people in my group (myself included) got sick or injured, and we felt quite lucky and grateful to have Dev to support us and provide the right advice as to how to best look after ourselves while trekking, especially regarding the high altitudes.

For accommodation, the nights that we stayed in a hotel (2 nights in Kathmandu and 2 in Pokhara) were great, extremely comfortable and felt like luxury especially after the trek. We were also treated to two delicious meals, one in KTH and one in Pokhara, as an introduction and farewell. The teahouses while trekking were basic but had everything we needed, i.e. a bed and roof over our heads. Showers were available for free in 2 of the 5 nights, but the water wasn’t very warm. The other nights required a payment of $2-3 USD, which some would consider worth especially after a day trekking. It was quite cold, but with the down sleeping bags we borrowed from Access Nepal, we were quite comfortable.

Food was extremely basic, and we tended to stick to eat the same 5 food options over the duration of the trek, despite the fact menus had a very large variety of options. This was under the recommendation of Dev, who suggested we avoid dairy/meat/eggs/things our bodies can’t handle at high altitudes, which probably prevented us from getting even more sick.

The trek itself is said to be more of a beginner/amateur trek, but even we found it quite difficult at times. I think it was most difficult to adjust to climbing uphill then downhill for several hours a day. The scenery was breathtaking, and we were fortunate enough to actually make it to ABC (not all groups make it because of time constraints/walking speeds, etc).

Thanks so much Dev + the porters, we had such a great time trekking with you & hope to be back soon.

Annapurna Circuit Nov 2018
Nov 2018 • Friends
Myself and 2 friends completed the Annapurna Circuit over November/December 2018. We were in contact with Sadhana from Access Nepal and our tour guide was Ganesh. Sadhana was unbelievably helpful every step of the way, helping us to book bits and pieces as required. Sadhana answered all questions and helped us in our decisions. Along the trek, Ganesh and the porters, Madhan and Subash, were exceptional every step of the way, answering all questions and assisting us when required. Ganesh gave us his undivided attention every step of the way to ensure we had a safe and enjoyable trek. Access Nepal has been amazing from start to finish, in particular Ganesh with his guidance along the way, and we highly recommend them if travelling through Nepal.

Yes, international travelers do need a tourist visa for Nepal. Indian nationals are the only exceptions here.

Tourist visas are available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. You can also get them through Nepali embassies or consulates before you travel.

The visa fees are: USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days, and USD 125 for 90 days. Please note that your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you initially intended to stay in Nepal.

Children below the age of ten years get their visas free of cost, which means they also need a valid passport.

The one exception here are children with U.S. passports who have to pay regular adult visa prices because of the reciprocal fee rules between Nepal and the U.S.

The best time to visit Nepal really depends on what you want to do. For trekking, the autumn months (September to November) are the best seasons. You get clear skies and pleasant conditions.

Spring (March to May) is another good season for trekking with its moderate temperatures and the greenery that envelops the hills.

Winter (December to February) and Monsoon (June to August) are less popular due to these being less convenient on the trails but they are suitable for lower-altitude tours and city sightseeing.

Yes, generally Nepal is a safe and welcoming country for travelers.

The one thing you have to remember while trekking and travelling in the mountains is that you have to follow your guide’s advice on pacing and acclimatisation to be safe in regards to your health.

Access Nepal prioritises traveler safety. Our experienced local guides, carefully planned itineraries, planned acclimatisation days, as well as first-aid and emergency support will make sure you are safe and sound during the entirety of the trek.

As a female led team, we understand how to make all our travellers comfortable and safe during the trek. Please share how you are feeling while on the road with your guides honestly and we will solve it for you.

Yes travel insurance is required for trekking in Nepal. Please get an insurance that is comprehensive and covers everything including high-altitude trekking, emergency medical treatment and helicopter evacuation.

While we do our best to ensure your safety during the trek, you never know what situation may arise. A complete insurance allows us to take the best step for your safety.

Please share your proof of valid travel insurance before you can join any trek or tour. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance before arriving in Nepal.

We have trips from shorter and more accessible treks to premium and luxury Himalayan experiences, so there is no single price for trekking or traveling in Nepal.

Many of our trekking packages include all major trip components like accommodation, meals, guides and porters, transportation and the necessary permits–although specific inclusions vary by the itinerary.

Currently, we list the Everest Base Camp (14 days) package around USD 1,490, Annapurna Base Camp (11 days) around USD 1,090 and cultural tours and easier treks at lower prices.

Personal expenses, visas, travel insurance and tips are usually not included on the package pricing. Please contact us for a customised quote on these based on your preferences.
