Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter is organizing ´Himalayan Travel Mart´ (HTM) in Kathmandu in May.
The recently held 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of PATA Nepal Chapter decided to hold the mart from May 29 to 31. Fifty buyers and sellers eacha are expected to participate in the event.
According to PATA Nepal Chapter, buyers are expected to come mainly come from Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand and Russia. Likewie, the group of sellers will include tour operators from the Himalayan countries including Nepal, India, China, Bhutan and some from South East Asia, Africa, Central Asia and South America sharing similar markets as that of Nepal.
Jyotsna Lama Khadka, CEO of PATA Nepal Chapter, said the travel mart is being organized as a continuation of the Diamond Jubilee Year of the first ascent of Mount Everest and coincides with the International Sagarmatha Day that falls on May 29.
“Nepal had always been participating in international marts. HTM is an effort to bring international buyers and sellers to Nepal and show them the beauty of our country which will definitely help in tourism promotion,” said Khadka.
PATA is also organizing a conference on the sidelines of the event wherein international resource persons will conduct sessions on marketing, management, human resource, information technology and their implications in tourism industry on the first day while remaining two days will be allocated for the B2B session.
Nepal Tourism Board is the main sponsor of the event.
