In March 2026, I got an opportunity to be part of the Everest Base Camp Trek, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. This trek is the most touristic destination in the world, with a lot of people walking at the same time, hotels, shops, and animals. It’s a true gem in this real world. But these things feel like nothing when you see all the beautiful views, giant mountains, and breathtaking environment. I felt overwhelmed as the Himalayan Mountain Range surrounded me throughout the journey.

In these 12 days of the Everest Base Camp Trek, I am going to tell you my trekking adventure to the Everest Base Camp. From starting in Lukla at 2840 meters, and finishing in the Everest Base Camp, at 5364 meters, I will tell everything, covering the topics on environmental changes, cultures, village lives, museums, emblematic places… and much more!!!

Throughout the trip, I was accompanied by 1 1 more people, so you will see many of them in all the photos in the trek. And obviously, you can see photos of my guides and porters from Access Nepal Tours and Trekking, who had the most important work there, carrying all the clothes of all the people. Without them, this trek will be impossible, and the difficulty level will increase much more than I expected. So, they have a leading role in this trek.

Day 1: I arrive at Lukla by plane, and the first views of the mountains were amazing, all the snowy mountains are like a dream. We give the bags to the porters and start the trek. Today’s trek was easy, so in two hours I arrived at Phakding (2610m) and went to rest.

Day 2: It was one of the most physical days. It went by a lot of time walking and a lot of photos, hiking up and down on the winding trails, but finally we arrived at Namche Bazaar (3440m). It was one of the most touristic villages on the route, with lots of stores, cafes, bars, museums, and hotels…

Day 3: On this day, I started experiencing headaches, which started with a little headache. I went with some teachers to see museums, including a Sherpa museum. At the museum, I had the privilege to talk with the creator of the museum, who was deaf!! Communicating with him was challenging, so we used paper to talk. It was a unique experience, and I learned a lot.

Day 4: This day was my worst day. My illness worsened, so I took Diamox. Our guide Subodh keept monitoring me and took care of me. I arrived in Pangboche (3,930 m) very tired and experienced stomach problems, vomiting, and low energy due to the medication’s side effects. At that moment, I wasn’t sure if I could complete the trek or if I would have to go down by helicopter.

Day 5: Thanks to the care of Subodh, my sickness didn’t worsen, so I rested for one more day in Pangboche before continuing the trek the next day. I stayed all day in the hotel and took short walks to monitor how my body was reacting.

Day 6: I started the trek with much more energy than the last few days, as I had recovered all thanks to Access Nepal Tours and Trekking’s experienced team. Finally, after all the hiking, we arrived at Dingboche (4410m), where the others were waiting for us to continue ascending the next day. This day was one of the most difficult days in all the trek, as I was still recovering, with many highs and descents.

Day 7: One more difficult day, but without most of the sickness. I lunch in Thukla and visit the memorial, the trekkers’ cemetery. Finally, I arrive at Lobuche (4910m) and rest to have energy for the biggest day in the trek, the EBC.

Day 8: The big day arrived, though it started with bad news as my friend Manu had to leave the trek because of head sickness. But this gave me more energy to reach the Everest Base Camp for him. I arrived at Gorakshep (5164m), I left my baggage and had lunch. After a short break, the main highlight of the trek started with a trek to Everest Base Camp!! To 5364 meters of altitude!! Today I completed one of my dreams, and I feel so good. After clicking some photos and videos with the team, we came down to Gorakshep to sleep for the day and rest for the descent.

Finally dream come true.

Finally, a dream comes true.

Day 9: Start the descent days, very cloudy and rainy days. I came down from Gorakshep to Shomare (3950m) and stayed there for a rest until the next day. Those days weren’t easy because I had to go up and down always. However, the experiences were all worth it. Surrounding views and majestic Himalayas kept me motivated.

Day 10: The next morning, the day started with the same weather as yesterday. It was misty and gloomy yet beautiful. I hike down from Shomare to Namche Bazaar early in the morning after breakfast. We arrive at Namche at noon. After arriving at Namche, I went to buy some souvenirs. At night, all of the EBC trek team went out to have fun and celebrate the success of the Everest Base Camp Trek.

Day 11: The final day arrives, and my return adventure continued with a hike from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. The whole trek was one of the best experiences of my life. I made memories that will last with me forever. I was very garteful with guide Subodh, porters, and Access Nepal Tours and Trekking for making this adventure successful. Despite my sickness, my guide Subodh supported me a lot, and without them, I would not have made it to the top of Everest Base Camp. As a gesture of gratitude, during dinner time, I give some presents to the guides and porters. This was an emotional moment for me. Then I go for a rest to wake up early to take the plane to Kathmandu.

Day 12: Final day arrives, I wake up early, and I go to the airport of Lukla to take the plane on the bound to Kathmandu, to say goodbye to the best trekking of my life. The flight was good, with a few unimportant turbulences. When I arrive in Kathmandu, I go directly to rest.

Conclusions

Finally, I did it, sincerely, in the days when I was sick, I was thinking if I could complete the trek or must go down. But all changed when I saw all my friends I made on the trek, I was pretty sure that I could complete it if I did better in the next few days.

In this trek, not only do I complete the EBC, but I also meet new people, new friends for all my life, and meet Nepalese people who help me to feel better and to recover from sickness.

One of the best moments was when I gave the t-shirts to the guides and porters. I think that the present gives me all the strength to go up carrying it. I was truly grateful and thankful from the bottom of my heart for my guide, Subodh. His experience and guidance helped me make my dream come true. When I gave it to them, I had one of the best feelings of my life, thinking that the objective is complete with these. Also, thank you to Access Nepal Tours and Trekking for giving me the best adventure of my life. Their professionalism and expertise in the field are why I made it through.

And with this, the next objective is Annapurna Base Camp, so I must be ready for this, and compared with this trek, it is easier, but it doesn’t mean it’s not difficult. But now it’s different, because I have the experience to make it easy.
