Some of the surrounding hills of Kathmandu have some exciting natural rocks that offer a perfect platform for rock climbing. Apart from the natural rocks, there is also a rock-climbing wall in the middle of the valley for those interested in experiencing the thrill of rock climbing.
Three natural rock-climbing spots are very popular among rock-climbing enthusiasts. The first spot is in Nagarjun Forest near Balaju, which is just 3 km from the heart of Kathmandu. The second spot is in Budhanillantha which is 12 km from the city and the third is in Shivapuri National Park.
Rock Climbing requires participants to climb up, down, or across natural rock formations and/or artificial walls. We operate rock climbing in Nagarjuna which is one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in Kathmandu. Nagarjuna Hill is a green hill located to the northwest of the Kathmandu Valley, Swayambhunath Stupa, and is believed to be the place where the famous Buddhist philosopher Nagarjun meditated. The cliff here is located inside the Nagajun forest reserve suitable for both beginners and wall rats. The limestone rock face is about 12-15 m high and bears the remnants of earlier climbs.
We will first have to climb a couple of rocks as basic training, and then continue climbing more challenging rocks.
Rock climbing is a challenging experience – filled with fun, excitement, and hard work.
