Dawa is an experienced trekking and mountain guide from Sibuje village in Nepal’s Everest region. He began his career as a porter at the age of 12. He has his way up through years of experience and formal training. Dawa completed courses in leadership, basic and advanced mountaineering, first aid, and mountain rescue. He also trained as a wilderness first responder (WFR) through NOLS, an internationally renowned wilderness school.
Over the years, Dawa has led treks in some of Nepal’s most famous regions, including Khumbu (Everest), Annapurna, Langtang, and lower Solukhumbu. In 2013, he summited Mt. Everest successfully. He has also guided climbs of several other popular peaks, such as Mera, Island, Labuche East, Pokalde, and Yala.
Dawa’s extensive experience includes surviving the 2014 avalanche in the Khumbu icefall that tragically took the lives of 16 Sherpas. His experience and understanding of the challenges of high-altitude expeditions make him one of the most expert guides in the field.
