Places we provide this service are one night in Phakding, two in Namche, two in Deboche, one in Monjo, and one in Lukla. However, Dingboche only includes attached toilet facilities due to its remote location.
For more services and comfort, accommodation can be upgraded at additional cost. You can enjoy your preferences without compromising the expedition’s efficiency.
Meals
Lobuche Peak climbing is challenging. It’s not a simple adventure like the Everest Panorama Trek. On average, you have to walk for 5 to 7 hours each day throughout the trek. Walking at high altitude is not easy. The route involves lots of uphill and downhill sections, especially during the climbing section.
Therefore, you have to eat nutritious and healthy food. It’s important for your body to stay strong and recover from tiredness. For your well-being, throughout the trip we provide healthy, fresh, and nutritious meals.
The teahouses use local and organic ingredients to cook all your meals. For this trip, you will get 14 breakfasts, 13 lunches, and 13 dinners, including welcome and farewell dinners in Kathmandu. During the climbing days, we also provide full meals at the tented camps.
Similarly, we also provide seasonal fruits after dinner and three cups of tea or coffee each day throughout the trek.
The food options for the Lobuche Peak Climbing are:
- Daal Bhat Tarkari, rice, lentil soup, vegetables, pickles, and sometimes meat curry.
- Other dishes such as porridge, noodle soup (Thukpa), dumplings (Mo: Mo), fried noodles (Chow Mein), curry dishes, fried rice, spaghetti, macaroni, oats, sandwiches, and bakery items.
Note: Please pre-informed us if you ahve any food or special diet needs prior to the trek, so that we can arrange your meals accorodingly.
Transportation
Our Lobuche Peak Climbing package includes the flight tickets from Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu.
Keep in mind, during the peak trekking season in Nepal, the Lukla flight normally operates from Ramechhap airport to avoid air traffic and delays. To reach Ramechhap airport, we will provide private vehicle transportation.
The drive is about 5 to 6 hours through a mountain road. The Lukla flight operates early morning. Lukla flights are frequently delayed or canceled due to weather; if possible, have extra buffer days.
In case of an emergency or flight gets canceled/ diverted, we can also arrange a helicopter charter at additional cost. Helicopter service (Kathmandu to Lukla) can be booked as needed. Above Lukla, it won’t require transportation, as you have to walk.
There is no vehicle support above Lukla except for emergency helicopter evacuation.
Lobuche Peak Climbing Route
The Lobuche Peak Climbing is the classic Everest region route. The trek officially starts from Lukla (2,840m). The trekkers walk along the Dudh Kosi valley. Passing through these famous Sherpa villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Deboche, Dingboche through the Sagarmatha National Park, we reach Lobuche Village located at 4,910m.
Afterwards, we go for a summit push to reach the peak’s base camp. Along the way, you’ll see various Buddhist monasteries and prayer flags. The views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse are mind-blowing.
From Lobuche village, there are no settlements. Likewise, for the summit, we move our tents higher on the glacier moraine (Lobuche High Camp 5,600m) and prepare for the summit. We will follow the Southeast Ridge of Lobuche East (6,119m). For the final ascent, you have to be extra careful as it involves steep snow and ice.
After completing the summit, we take the same way back to Lobuche village. We step down through Deboche, Monjo, Lukla, and finally Kathmandu. The Lobuche Peak Climbing is a 16-day trek including acclimatization and rest days.
Lobuche Peak Difficulty and Fitness Requirements
Lobuche Peak’s difficulty level is moderate to challenging. This trek is rated Alpine Grade PD+. This rating means that Lobuche Peak Climbing is moderately difficult and more technical than lower peaks. The trekker has to walk over steep snow/ice slopes (up to 45°). Its standard route requires trekkers to do roped climbing and fixed lines.
The fitness requirements for Lobuche Peak climbing are excellent physical condition. The trekkers must do regular cardio and leg-strength training before the trek. Start training 2 months prior. We strongly advised trekkers to be in good shape as they have to walk for long days, like 5 to 8 hours daily. Long hours of trek at altitude and using mountaineering gear are essential.
If you have prior trekking experience above 5,000m, then it’s perfect. Just as in climbing technique, we value the importance of good stamina and hiking fitness for this type of trek.
We provide highly experienced and licensed guides, so your safety is secure. To use mountain equipment like crampons, ice axes, and rope, our guides will instruct you.
Best Season to Climb Lobuche
The best season to climb Lobuche Peak is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). If you climb Lobuche during these months, you can experience more stable weather and clear skies.
March to May has warm temperatures along with colorful trails dotted with rhododendron flowers. Similarly, from September to November, the air gets crisp along with dry trails. Spring and Autumn provide great visibility and clear skies.
For safe and maximum summit chances, Access Nepal Tours and Trekking schedule departures during these windows.
The trek s perated throughout the year, but Winter climbs are much colder and riskier and monsoon season climbs are not recommended.
Altitude Sickness & Prevention
One of the serious risks during the Lobuche Peak climbing is altitude sickness. The trek takes you over 6,100m. There is a high risk of getting altitude sickness at this height. Common symptoms of altitude sickness are headache, nausea, weakness, loss of appetite, and dizziness.
We follow the strict rules to prevent altitude sickness: Climb High, Sleep Low. Throughout the Lobuche Peak climbing, we climb slowly and include extra rest days at key stops (e.g., two nights at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche).
Medically, it is advised that no more than 500m gain in sleeping altitude per day above 3,000m. Therefore, adding an extra acclimatization night plays a key role in your safety.
To prevent altitude sickness, drink plenty of water, eat well, and avoid alcohol. Our itinerary (“climb high, sleep low”) maximizes adaptation. If you want to use prophylactic medication (e.g., acetazolamide), discuss this with a doctor before the trek.
In case of severe symptoms of AMs, like confusion, shortness of breath at rest. The main priority is to descend or seek medical advice. Our guides are trained to monitor your health closely. In case of emergency, we also arrange a helicopter evacuation service at additional cost.
Climbing Training & Skills
Lobuche Peak Climbing doesn’t require technical climbing skills. However, this trek route involves snow and rock scrambling. For your safety, our guide provides instruction and basic skills training as well as practice crampon use, ice-axe self-arrest, rope walking, and belaying techniques.
It is also important that trekkers should be comfortable hiking on snow slopes and exposed terrain. We highly suggest that you gain some experience (even a short icefall course) before the trip.
Our guides will place fixed ropes on the steep sections during the climb, and they will assist you as needed.

We strongly advise trekkers to follow the guides’ instructions and always walk in a group.
Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance is mandatory for Lobuche Peak Climbing. Therefore, before buying any insurance package, make sure to go through their policy and that it must cover high-altitude trekking and climbing (at least to 6,500 to 7,000m), emergency helicopter evacuation, and medical treatment.
You must have travel insurance because without it, permits can’t be obtained. For more details about travel insurance, read this blog, Nepal Travel Insurance.
Weather & Temperature
Trekkers must expect large temperature swings during the Lobuche Peak Climb. This trek is a high-altitude journey and goes beyond 3,000 m, which also means cold and chill temperatures most of the year.
The temperature varies depending on the altitude.
- At lower altitudes (3,000 to 4,000m), the daytime temperature ranges between 5 to 15°C, and at night it drops below 0°C.
- At higher altitude (5,000m), the daytime temperatures are as high as 10°C and drop lower at night.
- Beyond (6,100m), temperatures are below freezing point, ranging between (15°C to 20°C) plus wind.
The best time for doing Lobuche Peak climbing is Spring and Autumn. During this time of the season, the weather is stable, but snowstorms or high winds can occur.
Due to the high altitude, sun exposure is intense, so bring strong sunscreen. To avoid any accident, we climb Lobuche in the morning hours and avoid the afternoon due to the winds.
Tourist Visa for Nepal
To do Lobuche Peak Climbing, all foreign climbers must have a Nepal Tourist Visa. The tourist visa can be easily obtained on arrival at Kathmandu’s airport or by applying online before the trek.
To get a visa, you must have a passport with six months’ validity. Visa fees (on arrival or online beforehand) are roughly:
- 15-day visa $30 USD
- 30-day $50 USD
- 90-day $125 USD
For the 16-day Lobuche Peak Itinerary, a 30-day visa ($50) is enough. To obtain a visa, carry a clean USD or NPR in cash. Cards are not accepted. Keep the visa stamp, as it will be required for exiting Nepal and for permits.
