How to Prepare for the Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan Tour?

  • Visa & Documents: Nepal offers a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport. Prepare a passport-size photo and USD cash (~US$30-50) or apply online in advance. Bring passport photocopies. Check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
  • Health & Vaccinations: Routine vaccines (MMR, DPT, etc.) should be up-to-date. CDC recommends the Hepatitis A vaccine for Nepal travel (and Typhoid/Tetanus). There is no malaria risk in Kathmandu, Pokhara, or Chitwan, but standard anti-malaria pills are not needed (mosquito repellent is enough). Carry basic prescription meds, and drink bottled or purified water (avoid tap water).
  • Cash & Currency: Nepal’s currency is the Nepali Rupee (NPR). ATMs and currency exchange offices are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. We recommend carrying at least NPR 10,000-20,000 (~USD 75-150) per week of travel for meals, souvenirs, tips, and emergencies. Most hotels accept credit cards, but small vendors do not. Notify your bank about travel to avoid card blocks.
  • Fitness: This Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan tour involves light activity (temple stairs, short hikes). A basic fitness level is sufficient. Acclimatization is not a major issue at these altitudes (Kathmandu ~1400m, Pokhara ~800m, Chitwan ~150m), but always stay hydrated and take breaks on drives.
  • Clothing & Culture: Pack modest clothing for temple visits (shoulders/knees covered). Evening temperatures in Pokhara can be cool, so bring a light jacket. In Chitwan, long-sleeved shirts help deter mosquitoes at night. It’s customary to remove shoes at temple entrances and to accept gifts/greetings with both hands (a “Namaste” gesture).
  • Communication: English is widely spoken in tourism areas. It’s helpful to learn a few Nepali phrases (“Namaste”, “Dhanyabad” = thank you). Mobile internet (SIM cards) is cheap and useful for maps/communication.

How Difficult is Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan Tour?

It is one of the easiest tours in Nepal. This Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan tour is designed for families, couples, friends and solo travelers alike. It’s an excellent choice if you want a stress-free introduction to Nepal:

  1. For Families: Kids enjoy the cultural sites and especially the Chitwan safari (elephants, jeep rides, Tharu dance). Sightseeing pace is relaxed, with plenty of breaks. Most hotels offer family rooms or adjoining rooms.
  2. For Couples: Romantic lakeside lodgings in Pokhara, scenic mountain sunrises, and intimate jungle dinners make this a memorable honeymoon or anniversary trip. We can add private boat rides on Phewa Lake or candlelit dinner options.
  3. For Solo Travelers: This tour can be booked even as a single, with single rooms available. You’ll have local guides and safe transport at all times. It’s also a great way to meet fellow travelers if you join a small group tour.
  4. For Groups/Friends: Group discounts and connecting rooms are available. Many friends’ groups love the adventure and variety (temples + mountains + jungle). If you have special interests (photography, wildlife, cuisine), we can tailor the itinerary slightly to fit your group.

The Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan Tour has no extreme trekking or high-altitude climbs, making it accessible to most ages and fitness levels. As noted by travel experts, it’s “suitable for children and seniors,” with optional activities so everyone can participate at their comfort.

What to Expect from the Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan Tour?

  • Kathmandu: Upon arrival at Tribhuvan Airport, we escort you to your hotel in lively Thamel. Enjoy a welcome dinner with a cultural dance show to kick off the journey. These UNESCO sites showcase Nepal’s Hindu and Buddhist heritage. In Bhaktapur or Patan, we may also visit historic squares and ancient temples. The first two days immerse you in Kathmandu’s ancient architecture, bustling bazaars, and colorful traditions.
  • Pokhara: On Day 3, we fly or drive to tranquil Pokhara (fly = ~25 min). In the cool mountain air, expect stunning Himalayan panoramas. Early on Day 4, we drive up to Sarangkot for a sunrise view of the Annapurna massif and Machhapuchhre peak. Back in Pokhara valley, visit Phewa Lake (boating option) and the World Peace Pagoda. Highlights include David’s (Devi’s) Falls and the Gupteshwor Cave complex. You’ll see why Pokhara is called “the heaven of Earth” – its serene lake against snow-capped mountains is unforgettable. The lakeside bazaar (Lakeside area) is great for shopping and relaxing by the water.
  • Chitwan: On Day 5, we take a scenic 5-6 hour drive (or short charter flight) into the Terai jungles to Chitwan National Park. The next day is a full jungle adventure. Activities typically include jeep or elephant safari, canoe ride on the Rapti River, bird watching, and a walk with naturalists. You’ll likely spot one-horned rhinos, deer, monkeys, and many birds. A visit to the Elephant Breeding Center is included. In the evening, relax with a traditional Tharu village tour and cultural dance performance. After Chitwan, we fly or drive back to Kathmandu on Day 7. Amazing holiday trekking the Manaslu circuit with Access Nepal! Amazing holiday trekking the Manaslu Circuit with Access Nepal! This was for us the second time we went trekking in Nepal with Access Nepal, and we are once again 100% satisfied with the amazing service. Sadhana is always available and incredibly kind, we had a long email exchange in order to organize the trek according to our needs. We decided to have a modified itinerary for the trek and Access Nepal has been amazing in accommodating our wishes. Moreover, our guide Giri was incredibly helpful during the trek, making sure we would always get the best rooms on the trek, the best service, and he was always very flexible regarding changing plans depending on our needs or weather forecast. The holiday was super smooth from the moment we step foot in Nepal to the moment we left. Access Nepal has 100% attention to the client needs, has an incredibly helpful and happy staff, we are so happy to be trekking with them and we will do it again. The Manaslu circuit trek is absolutely stunning, it was so much better than we expected, and we are incredibly happy to have witnessed the amazing views the trek has to offer. There`s a road in construction on the trek, and I think if you`re planning on doing this amazing trek you should do it NOW, before the road construction goes too far into the valley. The side treks to Pungyen Gompa and the Tibetan border were highlights of the holiday, if you have time please make sure to add a couple of nights in Samagaon and Samdo to take the side treks, you will love them. Access Nepal and Sadhana are super helpful in customizing your trek, you will not be disappointed. Overall, for the second time top scores to Access Nepal team, we are incredibly pleased with the service, the friendship, the professionalism and the feeling of being in good hands that come with trekking with Access Nepal. We recommend them wholeheartedly!

Amazing time doing EBC trek with Access Nepal! I went with Access Nepal for my Everest Base Camp 14 day trek, and I had an incredible experience! From my very initial inquiry, Sadhana was quick to respond and answer any questions. She made me feel very comfortable and connected throughout the entire process, and provided me with all the relevant information leading up to my arrival. When we finally met in Kathmandu to discuss the trek, she was just as friendly and kind and made me feel at ease knowing I was starting the next morning. I was met by my guide Om Prakash at the Kathmandu airport. From there he was with me the entire time as we traveled to Lukla to begin our trek and until I returned to Kathmandu. Om Prakash was an excellent and friendly guide, with so much knowledge of the area, the culture, the route, where to stay and safe places to eat and drink, and he also took the best photos! It was very helpful to have a local speaking guide to handle flight and accommodation logistics on my behalf, making sure I have somewhere to stay and eat every night. Throughout the trek, he managed my health and recommended me the best course of action when I wasn’t feeling 100%. He set the trekking pace accordingly to ensure my best success. Our porter, Bidur, was also extremely lovely during the trek. He handled my things with proper care, always made sure to have it ready on time by the evening, was extremely friendly and nice to talk to, and provided excellent service and companionship. Overall I had a 10/10 experience with Access Nepal: the trip coordinator Sadhana, my guide Om Prakash and my porter Bidur. I would recommend going with Access Nepal if you are looking to conquer the EBC trek or any similar in Nepal!

In addition to everything, Lakpa was my guide, I don't know what would have become of me without him, he recognized the moments when I was very tired, he arranged all my organization for a peaceful stay in the lodges and he gave me a lot of support. Anyway, I recommend Access with my eyes closed, I want and will go back to Nepal in the near future and do other trekkings. It was my life's dream come true!
