India, Nepal to jointly promote tourism

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India has agreed to a proposal of the Nepalese travel trade to jointly promote the two countries as tourist destinations. A business delegation from Nepal had a meeting with Parvez Dewan, Secretary Tourism, Government of India, and other senior officials of MoT in New Delhi.
The Ministry also agreed to a suggestion that tour operators from India and Nepal jointly offer tour packages to other countries, a release stated.
The visiting delegation sought India’s cooperation in the development of hotel infrastructure in Nepal. They also suggested joint promotion and development of Buddhist sites in both countries. MoT suggested a joint venture with Nepal for Himalayan and Adventure Tourism.
