However, if you are going for a trek, you will need trekking permits and a TIMS card, depending on your destination. For the remote destinations like Upper Mustang and Dolpo Trek, you will need special permits.

Yes, it is highly suggested to include extra days before and after the trip in case of flight delays. Extra days are mostly essential if you have flights to places like Lukla, Pokhara, or Jomsom. Due to the Airport location, high altitude, and unpredictable weather conditions, there is a high chance of getting flight delays or cancellations. In your extra days, you can do a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. However, if you have limited time, we also provide Heli Flight options with an additional cost.

Yes, a trekking guide is mandatory for trekking in Nepal. This rule was implemented as of April 1, 2023, by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Trekking Agencies Association Nepal (TAAN). This system was made to support the local community, protect the environment, and trek safely. The Nepal government won’t allow you to trek solo in any region without a licensed guide.

Even if you are trekking in a group or privately, you must trek with a guide, including in restricted areas like Manaslu and Upper Mustang. Access Nepal provides highly experienced, English-speaking, first-aid-trained local guides to give you the best trekking experience with safety.

You can trek to the Annapurna region (Annapurna Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit included), Mardi Himal Trek, Langtang Valley, and Ghorepani Poon Hill trek without a guide. Due to advanced trails, both beginners and experienced trekkers can trek to these regions. But guides are still mandatory for the trek, like Everest Base Camp, Manaslu Circuit, Everest Three Passes Trek, because of restricted area permits and safety reasons.
